The port of Marseille has reported nearly reaching the 2 million passenger threshold by the end of September.
With year-over-year total passenger traffic at 1.9 million, up 11 percent for the first nine months of the year, Marseille attributed the increase to an upswing in the ferry traffic to Corsica, which was up 31 percent, and steady growth in the cruise sector, which was up 11 percent.
These increases were able to offset declines in traffic to Algeria and Tunisia since the beginning of the year.
