MTN Celebrates 30 Years in the Satellite Communications Industry

MTN Satellite Communications (MTN), the global provider of communications, connectivity and content services to remote locations around the world, is celebrating its 30th year in the satellite communications (satcom) industry. Over the past three decades, the company has contributed greatly to the evolution of the satellite industry and continues to deliver communications solutions that address the needs of today’s end users – both commercial and government.

Since its founding in 1981, MTN has delivered innovative satellite communications solutions including:

Built the first 5-meter C-Band transportable satellite antenna made to travel with the presidential administration for Summit meetings and Pentagon press pool required events.

Delivered the industry’s first stabilized, “transmit and receive” Ku-Band satellite antenna system for the U.S. Navy deployed on the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2) during the first Persian Gulf crisis.

Introduced the first onboard Internet cafés for cruise ships leveraging MTN’s VSAT technology.

The cruise industry’s first multichannel global television service, MTN Worldwide TV, to provide programming from BBC World News, CNBC, MSNBC, E! Entertainment Television, Fox News and Sky News.

Richard Hadsall, MTN’s Co-Founder and CTO, recently discussed the company’s three decade history of innovation and industry leadership in a podcast interview. To hear his thoughts, visit http://www.mtnsat.com/sites/mtnsat.com/files/recording-9ltzy08358856013472704759-0.mp3.
