On a Sunday morning news briefing on Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Cruises executives revealed that not only will the Celebrity Infinity be “Solstcized” at Grand Bahama Shipyard in late 2011, but the line will add 60 more staterooms to the vessel.
Celebrity will issue a press release on Monday morning with the full details.
Deck 11 will get 43 new staterooms, replacing the kid’s area. Thirty-seven rooms will be AquaClass and the remaining six will be inside rooms. The children’s areas will be moved to the Observation Lounge, which will become much smaller.
Seventeen rooms will be added to Deck 3 and Celebrity will also add eight verandahs to the Celebrity Suites during the drydocking, said Dan Hanrahan, CEO and president of Celebrity Cruises.
Those seventeen staterooms will go into a newly remodeled Deck 3, where Celebrity will also add a 200-seat conference room with various partitioning options.
Commenting on the additional staterooms, Hanrahan said: “We do not think the vessel will be crowded. I’ve always felt that those ships were under-stateroom’ed and could handle more guests than we have now. And the new alternative restaurants will take some pressure off the main dining room.”
Hanrahan did not mention if those alternative restaurants would share the same galley with the main dining room.
Other upgrades to the vessel will include the Solstice Class’ variety of alternative dining options as well as spots such as Celebrity’s Martini ICE Bar, Crush.
