Pullmantur Offers Job Rotation Program for Shoreside Employees

Pullmantur Cruises has announced the launch of a new edition of its Job Rotation program whereby employees work in another department for one month.

Overseen by the company’s human resources department, the program was launched to foster training and development of employees, according Pullmantur Cruises President and CEO Richard Vogel.

First introduced in 2018, Vogel said that participants are fully integrated in their new departments and receive tutored guidance from their more experienced co-workers.

“The program is a very effective tool for enhancing the versatility and understanding of employees with respect to our organization, boosting their adaptive potential, increasing synergies across departments, and helping to discover new talents, leading to possible internal promotions,” Vogel added.

“We are a company focused on people, whether our workers or our customers.”

The 2018 edition of the program was open to all company employees and had 18 participants. Twenty-seven workers were selected for this second edition; they will carry out their activity in 13 departments (30 percent more than last year), in different areas, such as marketing, billing, itinerary planning, and corporate communication.

These employees request the positions that interest them the most and Human Resources select and assign candidates to a department, taking into consideration their skills.

One of the participants in the previous edition was Carmen Mellen, who began working 10 years ago in the booking department and has advanced to different positions.

“When the program was announced for the first time,” Mellen said, “I thought it was a great opportunity to understand a different area´s tasks, develop new skills and make myself known, as at the time, I was also studying for ending a master degree in digital marking, as an addition to my university degree in advertising and public relations”.

According to Pullmantur, Mellen’s inquisitive attitude, experience and qualification have opened the door for a new position, and now she holds a position in the trade marketing department at Pullmantur Cruises.
