Port of Seattle Elects Officers for 2019

L to R: Commissioner Ryan Calkins, Commissioner Courtney Gregoire, Commission President Stephanie Bowman, Commission Vice-President Fred Felleman, and Commission Secretary Peter Steinbrueck.

The Port of Seattle Commission has elected Stephanie Bowman Commission President for 2019. Commissioner Felleman will serve as Commission Vice-President, with Commissioner Peter Steinbrueck serving as Commission Secretary.

“I look forward to continuing the progress the Port of Seattle made in delivering projects to support trade and transportation, expand workforce development and protect the environment,” said Commissioner Bowman. “We have much to work on this year, ensuring that economic growth and our programs are helping people across King County and the state of Washington.”

The Port of Seattle Commission will remain focused on its policy-making and oversight role as the port provides essential travel and trade services to create jobs in the region. The port is currently underway with more than $2 billion in major facilities improvements at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and is working on the environmental review of additional near-term projects under its Sustainable Airport Master Plan.

On the maritime side, in November 2018 Port Commissioners approved a funding plan that would take on the largest maritime infrastructure the port has made in a generation. Priorities for 2019 include identifying partners for a new cruise terminal, and working with the Northwest Seaport Alliance to finalize a commercial deal for Terminal 5 as it becomes ‘big ship ready’.

The Port of Seattle will also spend 2019 pursuing environmental and economic development objectives that represent regional priorities, ranging from efforts to source more sustainable and low-emissions fuels to increasing the diversity of port suppliers and contractors.
