The ultra-busy Houston Ship Channel was shut down over the weekend following a barge and cargo ship collision that spilled some 4,000 barrels of fuel oil.

As a result, cruise ships into the Ports of Houston and Galveston faced challenges in turning around over the weekend.

The Carnival Magic and Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas were “held” at sea, while the Caribbean Princess was forced to overnight in Houston due to the spill, and missed her Saturday departure.

As of Monday, the Carnival Magic was set to sail a shortened cruise, dropping its call in Montego Bay. The Navigator of the Seas voyage was cancelled on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Magic was still at her berth, as was the Carnival Triumph.

The Caribbean Princess was still at her berth in Houston on Monday morning, awaiting cleanup of the spill.
