Royal Caribbean Cruise Line has announced that the 714-passenger Sun Viking will be positioned year-round in the Far East sailing from Singapore, Kong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo.

RCCL will be offering 13 and 14-day cruises starting Dec. 17, 1995, in addition to a variety of multi day land packages.

"The Sun Viking's complete cruise/land vacations will work as a catalyst for regional development of the Far East as the world's next great cruise destination," said Rod McLeod, RCCL's Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Passenger Services. "We will be moving an affordable product into a cruising area previously accessible only at a premium or luxury price," McLeod added.

Twenty-six western ships are offering cruises in the Far East this year, with only two sailing year-round, the 480-passenger Pearl since 1987 and the 800-passenger Marco Polo which launched service last year. The estimated total passenger capacity is 128,000 in 1994 up from 65,000 in 1993.
