Enchantment to be Stretched

The Enchantment of the Seas will be stretched with a midbody section built by Kvaerner Masa-Yards (KMY) which will be installed while the ship drydocks at the Keepel Verlome Shipyard in Rotterdam from mid-May to early July 2005.

The contract value is from approximately $48 million to $54 million for KMY which is handling the project through its new customer service division. ‘The revitalization and lengthening of the ship is strategically important for KMY,” commented Yrjo Julin, president and CEO. With fewer newbuildings, the new division is specializing in comprehensive conversation projects of cruise ships.

The 1997-built, 1,950-passenger Enchantment of the Seas will be 73 feet longer and have 151 more passenger cabins. The tonnage will increase from 74,140 to 80,700 tons.
