In 2018 the port of Flam is looking forward to the new MSC Meraviglia making its maiden call. Before then, the port is highlighted by visits this year from the Queen Mary 2 and Britannia, as well as the new Mein Schiff 6, according to Jon Olav Stedje, manager of port operations.
Next year he expects around 150 cruise calls, up a bit from 2017.
“The summer season is very busy, so we have no need for growth during high season,” said Stedje. “September and October are getting more and more popular, and now main focus is shoulder and winter season.”
The port is offering a 25 percent reduction on berth fees from October through March.
“Winter calls are something we want more of,” Stedje commented.
