Pullmantur Reducing Capacity, Ocean Dream Leaving Fleet?

The Ocean Dream may be leaving Pullmantur’s fleet as soon as this spring, sources told Cruise Industry News. The Spanish market is struggling amid euro-zone problems and the 1981-built, 1,422-passenger Ocean Dream has reportedly been chartered to Peace Boat.

Pullmantur has also moved the the 1,828-passenger Horizon to the CDF brand, where she will become the L’Horizon starting in May.

This would leave Pullmantur with the Zenith, Sovereign and Empress, although rumors persist Royal Caribbean Cruises may send another ship to the Spanish-brand depending on market conditions.

Meanwhile, in the Spanish market, Happy Cruises ceased operations last September, and Iberocruceros has reduced its European season capacity by one ship, going from four to three.
