Andreas Hafellner

Andreas Hafellner has been appointed to the role of chief operating officer at MarineXchange Software (MXP), the first enterprise software platform for the cruise industry.

Based in Graz, Austria, Hafellner will oversee the development of the company's enterprise tools that helps cruise operators to provide a superior guest experience, increase revenues and streamline operations, according to a company statement.

Hafellner will report to MXP Managing Director Hannes Lindthaler.

"I'm looking forward to my new role at MXP. The company's cutting-edge software suite is second to none. With the cruise industry's expansion, it's an exciting time to work with our cruise line partners on the next generation of modules" said Hafellner. "We will be adding artificial intelligence, big data, business intelligence and localization via Bluetooth and WiFi."

The MXP enterprise platforms is a complete software suite for cruise operators.

For the first time, a cruise line can manage all guest and crew data in real time with best-in-class software in a fully integrated environment. Automatic data distribution between the ships and the office provides an unprecedented degree of insight, the company said.

A full suite of mobile application takes guest services and revenues to the next level and helps the environment by reducing paper.

MXP's software is used by 35 ocean, river and expeditions cruise lines on more than 300 installations.

Hafellner joins MXP from Wirecard, one of the worldwide leading payment processing companies. There, as head of development for Central and Eastern Europe, he oversaw large groups of developers and worked with the latest technologies.

Before MXP, he also held various senior positions at Knapp, IVM/NTE, and was working on worldwide projects in Russia, Mexico, and South Korea.

"We want to implement the use of the latest Industry 4.0 technologies and the most recent changes in requirement due to the EU's Payment Service Directive (PSD2), which are just a few of our targets for our future,"  Hafellner added.

Hafellner earned a master's degree in software development and economics from the University of Technology in Graz, where he resides.
