Currently serving as the company’s President and CEO, Michael Bayley celebrated 45 years with Royal Caribbean earlier this month.

In a social media update, Bayley said that the milestone was celebrated with a surprise party at the company’s headquarters in Miami.

“I thought I was walking to a meeting next door, but it was a surprise party for my 45th anniversary with Royal Caribbean,” he said.

Bayley initially joined the company as assistant purser onboard the Nordic Prince, which was part of the brand’s original three-ship fleet.

“My love affair with Royal Caribbean had begun. What a journey of fun, adventure and happiness,” he added, noting that he has been with the brand “longer than 80 percent of his fellow employees have been alive.”

Bayley switched from shipboard to corporate offices, serving in various roles across the Royal Caribbean Group.

Bayley became President and CEO of the company’s largest brand in 2014 after spending two years leading Celebrity Cruises.

He also served as chairman and managing director of Island Cruises, then a joint-venture between Royal Caribbean and UK-based First Choice Holidays.

In his current position, Bayley has overseen a series of milestones, including the debut of most Oasis-class ships and the development and introduction of the new Icon-class vessels.

He also led Royal Caribbean through the pandemic and backed the group’s recent investment in private and exclusive destinations around the world.

Royal Caribbean’s SVP, Sales and Trade Support & Services Vicki Freed also celebrated the milestone with a special social media post.

“Michael, your vision, passion, and leadership have helped shape Royal Caribbean into the company we all know and love. You’re an inspiration to us all,” she declared.
