The Carnival Luminosa sailed from California earlier this month to kick off an 18-night transpacific voyage.

The 18-night cruise sailed from San Francisco on September 20, 2026, and will sail to Alaska and Japan before ending in Tokyo.

As one of the longest cruises being offered by Carnival Cruise Line this year, the itinerary is highlighted by visits to seven destinations.

The cruise started with stops at Ketchikan and Icy Strait Point, in addition to scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier.

After crossing the Pacific in eight days, the Carnival Luminosa is scheduled to visit Otaru, Aomori, Shimizu and Kobe.

Part of a three-part repositioning voyage to Australia, the sailing will be followed by a 14-night cruise to Southeast Asia and the Far East.

Featuring visits to Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Vietnam, the voyage will end in Singapore in late October.

The Luminosa is then expected to enter drydock before continuing its journey to the South Pacific for the 2026-27 season.

The final leg of the repositioning voyage sails from Singapore in late November and visits destinations in Australia before arriving in Brisbane in mid-December.

The ship is then scheduled to offer a series of three- to 14-night cruises to Queensland and the South Pacific islands from its Australian homeport as part of a season that runs through April 2027.

The transpacific cruise also marks the end of Luminosa’s first homeporting season in San Francisco, which started in May 2026 .

In addition to four-night cruises to Baja California, the 2009-built ship offered longer sailings to Alaska and Canada.

The ten-night itineraries were highlighted by visits to a range of destinations in the region, including Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Prince Rupert.

After completing its 2026-27 deployment in Australia, the Carnival Luminosa is scheduled to return to San Francisco for a second summer season.
