Norwegian Sky to Sail Rescue Mission to St. Thomas

In the wake of Hurricane Irma, Norwegian Cruise Line announced on Saturday it is deploying the Norwegian Sky to St. Thomas to retrieve 2,000 displaced travelers who could not evacuate prior to the storm.

The ship departed from her position near Cancun on Saturday morning, and is expected to reach St. Thomas in the evening on Monday, Sept. 11.

“When all designated vacation guests have boarded the ship, Norwegian Sky will sail back to her homeport of Miami and is expected to arrive on Thursday, September 14,” the company said.

In other news, due to damage from the hurricane in the Caribbean, the Norwegian Escape has had two months of itineraries changed.

All of Norwegian Escape’s upcoming Eastern Caribbean sailings will be altered to a Western Caribbean itinerary until November, the company announced.
