The Ovation of the Seas is in a drydock in China for “maintenance on components of the ship's propulsion system,” according to Royal Caribbean International.

Two four-night cruises were cancelled in favor of a necessary drydocking to work on the 2016-built vessel.

Royal Caribbean cancelled both the April 26 and April 30 sailings, with the ship set to sail again from Tianjin on May 4.

The company said the ship is fully operational and there is no impact on its maneuverability or the safety of guests and crew.

“Since the issue is necessary but not urgent, we explored numerous options, including waiting longer to conduct the work. However, based on much analysis, we determined that the timing is right for the work to happen from April 26 to May 3,” the company said.
