Fincantieri Denies Viking Ocean Rumors

Italian shipyard Fincantieri has denied rumors that they have stepped in to build the new Viking Ocean Cruises’ ships, taking over from an announced contract with STX France.

“As for the internet rumors about Viking Ocean, I can tell you that it is what it is: just rumors indeed,” said a spokesperson for the yard. “We categorically deny this claim.”

In 2011, Viking Ocean Cruises entered into an agreement with STX France, pending financing, to build two small luxury cruise ships, with an option for a third.
