French media reports have said Damen and Fincantieri are among the bidders for STX France.
Earlier this week French sources said two buyers have come forward, but no agreement has been reached. The French government owns a minority interest in the shipyard and can veto a sale.
Fincantieri has previously been linked to the purchase of STX France, as the Korean STX group looks to offload the facility.
Damen, however, is new to the picture, and operates a strong shipyard consortium across Europe.
