Pearl Seas Cruises and its Pearl Mist will open the 2016 cruise season in the Canadian port of Baie-Comeau with a call on May 25. It is the earliest call in the year ever to the port. Last year, the season started on June 1 with a call from the same ship.

The port said in a statement it is expecting more ships this fall, with a record 11 transit calls on the book for Baie-Comeau’s tenth cruise season. The port is expecting over 8,800 passenger, up 13 percent year-over-year.

Also for the first time will be two ships on a single day, as the port expects both the Seabourn Quest and Pearl Mist on Sept. 15.
