The Mein Schiff 1 is the first ship to enter service for the German brand TUI Cruises.

She was built in 1996 by the Meyer Werft shipyard of Papenburg, Germany. Originally operated by Celebrity Cruises, she served as the Galaxy until 2009.

The vessel was refurbished at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Germany before entering service for TUI Cruises on 23, May 2009. In March 2017, it was announced that the ship will be transferred to the Thomson Cruises fleet, with a new name: TUI Explorer.
