The Thomson Celebration is part of the Thomson Cruises fleet. She was built in France, by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard (currently known as STX France).

Ordered by Holland America Line, the ship entered service in 1984 as the Noordam. She is sister to the Thomson Spirit, former Nieuw Amsterdam.

With capacity for 1,350 on full occupancy and 33,933 GT, she entered service for Thomson Cruises in 2005.
