Rhapsody of the Seas

Rhapsody of the Seas

Built in France by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, the Rhapsody of the Seas was delivered to Royal Caribbean International in May 1997.

Part of the Vision-class, it was named in Los Angeles, on June 3, 1997. Previously, the ship did a few preview cruises from New York and Miami.

The 75,000-ton, 2,000 passenger vessel had Bodil Gannann Wilhelmsen as godmother. Bodil was wife of Gjert Wilhelmsen, then one of the principal shareholders and member of the one of the company's founding families.
