Sapphire Princess

Sapphire Princess

The Sapphire Princess was built in Japan, by the Mitsubishi shipyard. It is one of the two ships in the Grand-class that were built in Asia.

Delivered to Princess Cruises in 2004, the ship was christened in Seattle, on June 10 of the same year. It was the first time a cruise ship from a major cruise line was named in that port.

Nancy Murkowski, then the First Lady of Alaska, was chosen as Sapphire’s godmother. The ship spent its inaugural season in the last frontier, sailing from Seattle.
