Norwegian Star

Norwegian Star

The Norwegian Star was built in Germany in 2001, by the Meyer Werft shipyard. It is part of the Dawn-class, which also includes Norwegian Dawn.

Ordered by Star Cruises, the ship was transferred to Norwegian Cruise Line before its completion. Originally, it was named SuperStar Libra, and was scheduled to cruise exclusively around the Asian continent.

After being delivered in Europe, the ship sailed to America to its naming ceremony. The christening took place in Miami and was a dual ceremony, in which the Norwegian Sun was also named.
