Ordered in 2010, the Norwegian Getaway was delivered to Norwegian Cruise Line in 10 January 2014. It was designed as the “Miami Ship”, with décor and public areas inspired by the city.

Her only sister-ship is the Norwegian Breakaway, delivered one year before. In 2016, the Getaway served as a floating hotel for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
