Delivered to Holland America Line in 2000, the Zaandam was built in Italy by Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard.

With music as the central theme of its decoration, the ship is 61,369 tons and has capacity for over 1,400 guests.

She was christened in May 2000, by the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley. It is part of the R-class and has three sister ships: Volendam, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
