The Volendam is a R-class cruise ship operated by Holland America Line. She was built in Italy, by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri.

Part of the R-class, she entered service on 1999 and has one identical sister ship, the Zaandam. The other two ships, Rotterdam and Amsterdam are similar in design and also part of the class.

The ship was christened on November 12, 1999. The former tennis player Chris Evert is her godmother.
