The Carnival Sensation entered service for Carnival Cruise Line on November 21, 1993, as the cruise line’s seventh newbuild.

She was built at Helsinki, Finland, by the Kvaerner Masa-Yard shipyard. The ship originally cost Carnival around $300,000,000.

Part of the Fantasy class, it has seven sister ships: Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Fascination, Carnival Imagination, Carnival Inspiration, Carnival Elation, Carnival Paradise and Carnival Ecstasy.
