The second oldest ship of the Carnival Cruise Line fleet, the Carnival Ecstasy debuted on June 2, 1991.

At 70, 367 tons, she is the second vessel of the Fantasy-class and was followed by other six sister ships. All of them were built in Finland, by Kvaerner Masa-Yard.

The ship was christened by Kathie Lee Gifford, an American television hostess and then Carnival Spokesperson.
