The French Riviera Cruise Club has reported on the success of two special cruise tourism shopping days, arranged in Villefranche/Mer and Cannes in May and June. Some 5,000 passengers participated in Villefranche-sur-Mer and 3,000 in Cannes, taking advantage of special sale offers by local shops.

The Port of Cannes also arranged a special party evening to celebrate the beginning of summer with more than 15,000 guests of all ages, local citizens and visitors.

Earlier in June, Cannes also arranged its Happy Cruise Day in conjunction with CLIA France, More than 20 travel agents participated in a cruise workshop.

The Club Med 2 made its maiden call in Antibes.

And Villefranche has launched Smartphone and iPad applications of its visitor guides, providing information on new walking tours, sites to see, and shopping tips. The Smartphone app can be downloaded on the iPhone, iPod Touch and Android before leaving the country of origin or on arrival in a dedicated WiFi area.
