Carnival Asia Appoints William Harber as VP Market Development

William HarberCarnival Asia has appointed William Harber, Carnival Corporation & plc’s vice president, corporate marketing as its new vice president, market development to assist in implementing the company’s growth strategies within the rapidly expanding Asia region.  Harber reports to Pier Luigi Foschi, Chairman & CEO for Carnival Asia.

Harber’s primary responsibilities are to support the corporation’s brands in Asia, driving Carnival Asia’s strategic priorities in marketing, distribution and deployment and itinerary planning.  This includes responsibility for market, competitive, and consumer insights as well as developing internal metrics and reporting for Carnival Asia. He will also be engaged in government relations, assist with port infrastructure and destination development, and work to further develop cruise industry associations in the region.

Harber joined Carnival Corporation & plc in 2004 to help start the corporate IT function. During his tenure with Carnival, he’s had increasing responsibilities within corporate business services and was tapped to head up corporate marketing in 2008, where he directed commercial cross-brand profit improvement initiatives and assessed new markets for growth.

“As we progress in establishing Carnival Asia as a major strategic move, benefiting from opportunities in these vast emerging markets, we welcome Bill in his new role,” said Foschi.  “He’ll continue to contribute to our goals by coordinating the implementation of the Asia strategy he managed for the group,” added Foschi.

Prior to joining Carnival Corporation & plc, Harber was a management consultant with A.T. Kearney and served as director of product marketing for a technology start-up.  He earned his MBA with a concentration in marketing strategy from Emory’s Goizueta Business School and graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor of industrial and systems engineering.  To begin his new assignment, Harber will relocate to the region with his family in the June/July timeframe.
