ECDIS Training Reaches 2,500th Participant

The Maritime Education & Training Center (MET) in Schenefeld, Germany and Interschalt Maritime Systems have announced the 2,500th course participant in their ECDIS training program.

Piers Edward Duncan Boileau-Goad comes from Great Britain, is 27 years old, and holds the position of second officer with Oceania Cruises. According to MET, the cruise company regularly sends its nautical officers and captains to Schenefeld for training.

Each year, about 500 captains, ship`s officers and pilots from all over the world participate in a broad range of courses.

With the MET training facility, Interschalt – a provider of services and equipment in the maritime industry – is oriented toward various target groups: from nautical officers, technical officers and captains to pilots and shipowners personnel. The offerings range from an introduction to basic maritime knowledge to engine control room and bridge simulations. In addition to generic and type-specific ECDIS training, the MET provides courses for Interschalt’s various software programs.
