As part of its expansion strategy to offer both technical, crewing and hotel operation services to the river cruise market, V.Ships Leisure has been appointed as technical manager of Lueftner Cruises’ Amadeus Symphony which operates on the French rivers Rhone and Saone.
The Amadeus Symphony was built in 2003 and has a capacity of 146 passengers. The Vessel will be managed from our Monaco office, with the possibility of having a second Vessel inmanagement next year. In addition to achieving increased efficiency through outsourcing, the River Cruise company also recognized that as the Amadeus Symphony operates in a different location to the rest of the fleet, outsourcing its management will allow them to maintain focus on the rest of their operations in central European rivers whilst being comfortable that the Amadeus Symphony is being well looked after.
Commenting on the new contract, Dr. Wolfgang Lueftner, the Owner, stated that he is “very pleased to be working with a professional partner like V.Ships, and I am certain we will achieve synergies utilising our combined know-how. We are particularly interested in learning from V.Ships Leisure’s experience from the ocean going cruise industry and shipping in general covering areas like crewing, safety & quality and project management of refurbishments.”
Per Bjornsen, Commercial Director of V.Ships Leisure stressed that “V.Ships Leisure will provide, as part of its services, a customized river safety management system which voluntary introduces procedures similar to that mandatory on oceangoing vessels.”
There is a chance to further develop our services to Lueftner Cruises once the management of the first vessels is started. V.Ships Leisure has previous experience with river cruises in the US, when they managed a fleet of seven U.S.-flagged and built ships, on behalf of Majestic America Line trading in the North American Rivers.
This represents a key milestone for V.Ships Leisure and the river cruise Industry where potentials for increased efficiency, safety and economies of scale are at the forefront of both Owners and Ship Managers.
Family controlled, Lueftner Cruises, based in Innsbruck, Austria operates a fleet of luxury river cruise ships on the main continental European rivers.
