Report: QE2 Sold to China?

After previous rumors, The Daily Mail is now reporting the classic Queen Elizabeth 2, berthed in Dubai and awaiting a hotel conversion since 2008, has been sold to Far East interests for some $30 million, and could be scrapped.

A last-minute bid to bring the ship back to England to be used as a hotel did not work, with reports out of the UK further suggesting a Chinese crew is already aboard making preparations to drydock the ship before she is either sailed or towed to China.

While reports suggest scrapping, $30 million is perhaps a steep price tag for the breakers.
