Costa Mediterranea Repositions to Miami for 10-Day Caribbean Cruises

Costa Cruises’ Costa Mediterranea will reposition to the Caribbean beginning Nov. 20, 2012.

The ship is set to sail 10-day cruises that feature six ports of call and cover an expanded area of the region. Costa Mediterranea is replacing sister ship Costa Atlantica, which will reposition to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

From November to February 2013, the 86,000-ton, 2,144-guest Costa Mediterranea will sail two 10-day round-trip Caribbean itineraries from Miami with calls at Nassau, Bahamas; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Roatan, Honduras; Cozumel, Mexico, and a call at either Belize City, Belize, or Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos.

“Costa Mediterranea’s itineraries are unique because of their extended length and span of both the eastern and western Caribbean,” said Scott Knutson, vice president of sales and marketing for Costa Cruises North America. “The 10-day cruises enable guests to explore more of the Caribbean’s diverse destinations in one itinerary and provide an opportunity to take part in the more than 80 shore excursions offered throughout the voyage.”

Inspired by 17th-century Italian palaces, Costa Mediterranea’s décor boasts Carrara marble, Murano glass accents and inlaid wood, creating a palatial atmosphere. The Maschera d’Argento Atrium features dancers suspended mid-air in a tribute to dance and the Italian “Commedia dell’Arte” by artist Gigi Rigamonti.

Costa Mediterranea has 1,057 staterooms including 678 with private balcony, four restaurants, 12 bars including a Wine Bar and a Cognac and Cigar Bar, four swimming pools, solarium, multipurpose sports court and outdoor jogging track. A three-level theater, casino and disco provide a variety of entertainment options. The ship’s wellness program includes a two-level Ischia spa with fitness center, hydromassage pool, sauna and steam room.
