Revamping of Cruise Shipping Miami: New Pavilions and Conference Program

UBM Live, organizers of the Cruise Shipping Miami trade show and conference, are revamping the 29th edition, set for March 11-14, 2013, at the Miami Beach Convention Center .

UBM Live is introducing theme pavilions in the exhibition and a new conference program that synthesizes input from global cruise events including the recent Cruise Shipping Asia-Pacific event in Singapore. (read Cruise Industry News’ coverage of that event here.)

“Additionally, the show will feature a refreshed conference program that will be faster paced and more educational,” said Read. “We will have a focus on the above topics and the program is being developed in conjunction with the cruise industry to ensure we cover topics that really matter to our participants.”

New theme areas and pavilions focusing on industry hot topics currently being considered include the environment and sustainability, global destination infrastructure, on-board experience and revenue, and safety and security.

“Based on these themes we are introducing new sectors and new features to the trade show floor,” said Daniel Read, director of UBM’s Cruise Portfolio. “For the environmental theme we have developed a ‘Green Cruising’ Pavilion that will highlight the suppliers of environmentally friendly products and services for the industry. This covers both the technical side and businesses in the tourism space that offer eco-tourism solutions.”

Read noted the Green Cruising Pavilion will feature a showcase presentation theater and networking area providing opportunities for cruise lines to present their needs and the supply side to present their solutions and products.

For the global destination infrastructure UBM Live is developing a destination solutions area where destinations and ports can highlight what is new in their region. One of many elements being developed related to the on-board experience theme is an amusements and recreation zone for suppliers of products like zip lines, coin-operated electronic games, rock climbing walls and other recreational attractions.
