Monika Griefahn Becomes Director of Environment at AIDA

Monika Griefahn has been named director of environment and social responsibility at AIDA Cruises, becoming the line’s chief sustainability officer.

According to a statement, she is the co-founder of Greenpeace Germany, and will oversee environment and social responsibly for the German-based cruise line.

From 1984 to 1990 she sat on the board of Greenpeace International and was also the environment minister of Lower Saxony from 1990 to 1998.

“Cruise ships provide the platform for innovation as well as the chance to show what opportunities this business has to be a leader in the field of environment and social responsible,” said Griefahn.
