Le Havre Expects Record Year

The port of Le Havre has announced that it expects 215,000 cruise passengers in 2012. The port has scheduled 110 calls by 21 different cruise lines. The most frequent callers are Costa with 22 calls; AIDA, 21 calls; Princess, 12 calls; Celebrity, 12 calls; Royal Caribbean, eight calls; Cunard, seven calls; and P&O, seven calls.

The season started back on Jan. 6, when the Queen Elizabeth departed Le Havre on her world cruise, and concludes in December. The so-called off season, that is, from October to March, is also seeing more calls: 18 calls are forecast for 2012/2013 compared to 16 this year, and six the year before.

Several ships will also operate turn-around cruises from Le Havre, including Costa’s neoRomantica, the Brilliance of the Seas, Nautica and Wind Spirit.

There will be 18 double calls and four triple calls during the year, with a third berth being made available for cruise ships. The first triple call will be on May 30 with the Luminosa, neoRomantica and Seabourn Pride.

There will also be 10 overnight calls.
