Newfoundland and Labrador Harbours Receive $16 Million in Federal Funding

The Honourable Peter Penashue, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada and Regional Minister for Newfoundland and Labrador announced $16 million for small craft harbours in the Province.

“In Newfoundland, there’s 22 harbours being selected – two of which being in Labrador, I’m very proud to say,” said Honourable Peter Penashue

Chair of the Board of Directors of the Cruise Association, Randy Letto stated “This funding will certainly assist in the development of ports of call throughout the Province and in particular the ports identified will prove to be exciting new destinations for the expedition cruise customer, offering exciting, authentic and exotic adventures off the beaten track.“  

The Cruise Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to positioning the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador as an internationally recognized cruise destination through marketing, port development and advocacy.

A present Newfoundland and Labrador has in excess of 50 Operational Cruise Ports, 400,000 square kilometers of Provincial Boundary, 29,000 kilometers of Coastline and boasts an 81% growth in Cruise Activity for the period 2001 – 2010.
