ALMACO and Yiu Lian Dockyards Enter into Partnership

ALMACO Group announced today that it has signed a partnership agreement with Yiu Lian Dockyards Limited, the biggest ship repair yard in China, to offer complete ship repair services to Passenger Ship Owners around the world.

ALMACO and Yiu Lian Dockyards have set up a partnership to promote Total Modernization Management services that will encompass Hotel Area refit and traditional ship yard repairs and also contribute to promoting the Yiu Lian Dockyards, which has remarkable possibilities and ideal equipment for passenger ship dry docks. This partnership will provide ship owners with the chance to get a total turnkey solution competitively from one source. ALMACO Group is the leading turnkey supplier in large cruise ship modernization projects, providing project management, complete engineering, project planning and true turnkey delivery of all hotel areas (cabins, balconies, public areas, galley areas) from steel to final interior details. “We believe that the reasonable price and great quality of services we are able to offer are going to be essential attractions for all passengers ship owners,” says Vilhelm Roberts, President and CEO of ALMACO Group. ALMACO’s new partnership agreement with the biggest Chinese ship repair yard is also consistent with the future vision in the cruise shipping market, illustrating the movement through Europe towards Asia.

ALMACO is a specialist and the leading supplier in large-scale modernization projects, and it provides Complete System Solutions including Maintenance Management for Passenger Ships Hotel Areas. “We are pioneers in providing ships’ Hotel Areas with the entire package, including spare parts and maintenance with highly sophisticated maintenance tools. There are usually hundreds of suppliers onboard when the ship leaves the new building yard. Why should the ship owner spend time and money communicating with all of them when they could do it with only one system supplier?” asks Mikael Hedberg, Executive Vice President and COO of ALMACO Group.

Yiu Lian Dockyards Ltd is moving to a new location on Mazhou Island in the Pearl River delta in order to accommodate higher levels of demand. The biggest ship repair yard in China is ideally equipped with workshop facilities, a block assembly area and emergency centers. The new facility will occupy an area of 700,000 m2 in total and includes two new VLCC dry docks measuring 400m x 83m and 360m x 67m as well as ship repair quays of 3,010m in length overall. In addition, the yard has two floating docks, which measure 250m x 36m and 200m x 32m and can handle vessels of 80,000 dwt and 40 000 dwt respectively.

Mazhou Island, situated at the west port of Shenzen, has a favorable geographical location that faces Hong Kong to the South, Granzou to the north and has open and deep water Marine access. The ideal position makes it easy to find skilled labor and provides a swift channel to spare parts and materials from Hong Kong and other places. Founded in 1989, Yiu Lian Dockyards Ltd has accumulated sufficient experience and technological knowledge in the ship repair industry.
