AIDA Cruises receives

Highest quality and safety standards confirms Germanischer Lloyd the shipowner AIDA Cruises. After the naming of the cruise ship Burkhard Müller, Vice President Fleet Services AIDA Cruises, and Michael Ungerer, Senior Vice President Operations AIDA Cruises, received the “GL Excellence, 5 Stars” Award from Torsten Schramm, Chief Operating Officer Germanischer Lloyd and Andreas Ullrich, Shiptype Manager Passenger Vessels Germanischer Lloyd.

AIDA Cruises fulfils 13 requirements in the categories Management Systems, Safety, Operation, Environment, Ethics, Security and Comfort. These include excellent port state control statistics, ILO convention on the accommodation of crews and the GL Emergency Response Service amongst others. In addition, further optional requirements are fulfilled, among them operating the ships with the GL ShipManager and the Maritime Social Responsibility (MSR) certification. The “5 Stars” stand for the compliance with the five management systems ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISM, ISPS and OHSAS 18001.

AIDA Cruises and Germanischer Lloyd cooperate closely already since 1996. The cruise ships AIDAcara, AIDAvita and AIDAaura have GL class. Also the AIDAdiva and her sister vessels are classed by Germanischer Lloyd.
