Safebridge – Maritime Training Online

New requirements in ECDIS training from Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) 2012, the International Safety Management (ISM)- Code and consequently tough port state control regulations make hands-on, type-specific training essential for today’s seafarers.

Safebridge will launch a training solution with complete independence from the training location – a detailed and type-specific online training that offers their students an intensive hands-on exercise of the navigation products installed on the ships they sail.

The new online training portal will be available initially for various manufacturers’ ECDIS, Radar and other maritime software will follow from 2012. Users will log on to the Safebridge server via the internet to access a range of e-learning modes, including a guided tutorial on the live system, self testing with feedback and free play of the live system. After passing an interactive test the successful completion of the course will be documented with a type-specific training certificate on behalf of the manufacturer.

The students will be able to put new skills to work immediately when they embark their ships. Virtually every shipping company and public maritime agency can rely on Safebridge to get the state-of-the-art training that meets and exceeds maritime industry requirements.

Safebridge will launch their maritime online training portal in late summer 2011. High-class cooperations with leading bridge equipment manufacturers such as Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine, Transas Marine and Imtech Marine Germany have already been agreed. There are more to follow, making the major part of ECDIS software on the market available for training via the Safebridge online training portal.

Also, a close collaboration has been formed with MSG MarineServe. MSG is a well established maritime training company based in Hamburg, Germany.

A demonstrator of the online training portal will be present for close inspection.
