High-Lift Crane Service in Guadeloupe

Crane working on the Star ClipperIn Guadeloupe, the shipping agencies SGCM and Navimar Cruises are introducing high-lift crane services, up to 60 meters, to lift spare parts onboard from shore, including antennas for radars and communications satellites.

“This is not easy or not even possible in most Caribbean ports,” said Gerard Petrelluzzi, sales manager for SGCM. Previously, spare parts have been lifted aboard the Star Clipper and the Costa Classica, while calling in Pointe a Pitre.

“I am convinced that shipowners and cruise technical departments will find it helpful that they can use Pointe a Pitre on special calls to have this operation done, while they are in the Caribbean. Parts can arrive fast to Guadeloupe via airfreight from Europe or the U.S., and be delivered to the port in bond as ‘ships spare parts in transit.’”

The high-lift crane service can be offered in Pointe a Pitre as well as in Basse Terre.
