AIDAsol: 1000th Ship in the Port of Amsterdam

Mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan, handed Captain Detlef Harms the key of the cityA milestone for the youngest AIDA ship as guest of honor: AIDAsol was recently the 1000th ship to enter the Port of Amsterdam. In a festive ceremony on Saturday, the Mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan, handed Captain Detlef Harms the key of the city. A plaque was affixed to the bridge of the ship at the same time. The Mayor was given a portrait photograph of the christening of AIDAsol by the Captain.

The guests of honor for the celebration were Michael Ungerer, Senior Vice-President of Operations, as representative of the management of AIDA Cruises, as well as the President and CEO of the Port of Amsterdam, Dertje Meijer. The German Embassy in the Netherlands was represented by Jochen Möller.

The visit to the famous seaport means that cruises can now be booked to and from Amsterdam for the first time, also enabling people in Holland to experience the special AIDA atmosphere: “AIDA Cruises – Vakantie met een glimlach”.
