Mario Martini Appointed to New Position at Costa

A new appointment has been announced for Mario Martini, one of the best known and most widely appreciated cruise industry executives, with over 40 years’ experience in the Costa Crociere Group. Having successfully completed his term as Consejero General in Iberocruceros, the Costa Group brand operating for the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking markets, Mario Martini has rejoined Costa’s Genoa Head Office as Senior Consultant reporting directly to the Chairman & CEO of Costa Crociere S.p.A.

Mario Martini’s great wealth of experience and expertise, combined with his exceptional human qualities and communicative skills, will assist the CEO, the President and the Group management team in support of major projects and key initiatives for the growth of the Genoa-based Company that is Europe’s n.1 cruise company and the largest Italian travel group.

Iberocruceros General Manager Alfredo Serrano will now be reporting directly to the Costa Crociere S.p.A. Group Chairman & CEO Pier Luigi Foschi, with the aim of further increasing the synergies between Iberocruceros and Costa Crociere, while retaining Iberocruceros’ brand identity and the specificity of its product.

Mario Martini, who is from the Ligurian town of Camogli, joined Costa Cruises in 1969 and over the years has held a series of positions of increasing responsibility in the sales area working not only in Italy but also in South America, Spain and France. In July 2003 he became Costa’s Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing Europe and Rest of the World. He was appointed Consejero General in Iberocruceros in 2008.

Alfredo Serrano was born in Madrid. He is an Industrial Engineer, graduated from Madrid Polytechnic University and holds a MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau. He was appointed Iberocruceros General Manager in 2002. Before joining Iberocruceros he gained valuable experience working in executive positions in various international corporations operating in Spain, including IBM, Honeywell and ABB.
