Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to Build Two New Cruise Ships?

Reports coming out of Japan have Mitsubishi Heavy Industries receiving an order for two passenger ships, with a value of 100 billion yen. It is unclear at this time who the customer is.

Today’s exchange rate puts the new order at approximately $1.2 billion for two ships, which is current with other recent newbuilds.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries last built the Diamond and Sapphire Princess ships, and also built the Crystal Harmony which now sails for Japan-based NYK Cruises as the Asuka II.
