Jamaica won the award based on a number of factors, including room night production. In 2010, Jamaica’s bookings through Expedia increased by 26 percent over 2009. Expedia sales of packaged room nights in Jamaica made the destination the leader in this market also, with a 70-percent market share for the region, representing an increase of 30 percent over the previous year. The destination is an affiliate partner and creative global marketing partner of Expedia, and was credited with running the first expandable campaign in the region.
Jamaica’s Director of Tourism John Lynch is pleased that the partnership has reaped such rewards for Jamaica. “We’re excited that our relationship with Expedia has sparked significant benefits for both brands, and look forward to continued growth in 2011 through this valued partnership.”
Demetrius Canton, Expedia’s Director of Market Management for the Caribbean, commented: “We wish to congratulate Jamaica, which continues to be one of our highest-performing destinations in the region. It is our hope that Expedia will enjoy another great year of room night growth in the Caribbean, and we’re confident Jamaica will be part of that mix.”
Two Jamaican hotel partners also walked away with awards: Grand Palladium for Top Room Night Producer – Caribbean and SuperClubs for Top Partner Chain – Caribbean.
