Record 2010 for Newfoundland and Labrador

Cruise Newfoundland and Labrador has reported that 50,552 passengers and crew visited in 2010 aboard 22 ships representing 19 cruise lines/tour operators. These ships made 133 port calls as part of 36 separate itineraries including Northern Trans-Atlantic, Canada New England, expedition/circumnavigation, Arctic and world cruises.

Newfoundland and Labrador had a 33 percent increase in the number of visitors arriving by cruise ship in 2010 over 2009 (50,552 in 2010 compared to 37,926 in 2009). Chair, Dennis O’Keefe said: “We are on the edge of it all. The new brand Cruise the Edge communicates strong emotions through powerful imagery that speaks to both the ruggedness and uniqueness of Newfoundland and Labrador. The healthy 33 percent increase in traffic reaffirms the success of the cruise industry in the Province and the confidence expressed by cruise line executives in the Provincial experience.”
