Celebriy Eclipse Set to Arrive in Miami

Celebrity EclipseThe Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Cruises’ latest upscale and widely acclaimed Solstice-Class ship, arrives to its homeport at the Port of Miami on Saturday, November 13.

The Solstice Class vessel is due to arrive at 4:00 a.m. local time.  On Monday, it will host a special meeting of the Miami-Dade County’s economic development partnership, The Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County’s Economic Development Organizations and host travel and trade media, prior to departing for a second inaugural trip in preparation for its first revenue cruises.

The third in Celebrity Cruises’ stylish, Solstice Class fleet, Celebrity Eclipse features sophisticated environments, impeccable service, enriching and inspiring onboard programs, and world-class cuisine.

“We are proud to welcome the Celebrity Eclipse as a distinguished addition to the Port of Miami’s fleet,” said Port Director Bill Johnson.   “With the Celebrity Eclipse’s arrival the Port of Miami’s cruise season moves into high gear.”

The new cruise season features four new ships in the Port of Miami line-up and more reasons than ever why cruising out of Miami is the best bet for travelers heading to the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Mexico and other exciting destinations.  Johnson predicted another strong year for cruise traffic following a world record year with 4.15 million cruise passengers traveling in and out of the Port of Miami over the last 12 months.

The Celebrity Eclipse joins Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Epic and other new arrivals in the line-up:

•  February 2011 – Oceania Cruises will deliver, the Marina, the first new build for Oceania.

•  January 2011 – Costa Cruises will return to the Port of Miami when the Atlantica arrives to Miami.  The Atlantica will operate a series of seven-night alternative Western and Eastern Caribbean cruises.

“Cruising from the Port of Miami has never been more exciting,” said Port of Miami Director Bill Johnson.  “Four new vessels over a seven month span positions the Port of Miami to deliver for the strongest season ever.  We are looking forward to welcoming four million cruise passengers over the next year.”
