Football Legend Kenny Dalglish to Host Guests on Silversea

As part of Silversea’s ongoing guest enrichment programme, the company has announced further celebrity hosts to join 2011 cruises, with football’s favourite, Kenny Dalglish hosting Silver Wind’s newly created Middle Eastern voyage in January 2011. Kenny’s phenomenal footballing success and charitable endeavours since are the perfect ingredients for a captivating, inspirational host.

Kenny Dalglish, formerly a Scottish International footballer, went on to play for and manage Liverpool Football Club during their glory years from 1977-1991. His time at Liverpool was one of the most successful periods in the club’s history, as he led Liverpool to win seven league titles, three European Cups and two FA Cups.

Together with his wife Marina, they have since founded the “The Marina Dalglish Appeal”, which raises money for breast cancer. They have raised millions of pounds through their charitable efforts, supporting the construction of a purpose built cancer centre on Merseyside.

Silversea expects global interest in meeting Kenny Dalglish.   In football terms he is a legend and Liverpool Football Club is a team that has international appeal in its own right.  Aboard the cruise, Dalglish will host talks giving rare and exclusive insights, as well as joining guests for dinner.

Silver Wind sets sail roundtrip Dubai on 3 January, 2011 on a seven day voyage (#2101) visiting Abu Dhabi, Khasab, Muscat and Bahrain. Passengers can choose from fabulous shore excursions such as visits to the Khasab fortress and Harib Mountain. Or opt for a sailing adventure by traditional dhow through the majestic fjords of the Musandam Peninsula followed by an Omani picnic served under the stars in a Bedouin tent.

Dalglish joins a cast of high profile alums and destination experts who host Silversea guests on selected sailings, including newsreader and broadcaster Michael Buerk, former Dorchester head chef Anton Mosimann and first American woman to walk in space, Astronaut and Scientist Dr Kathryn Sullivan.
