Norwegian Epic Hosts Successful Macy’s July 4th Fireworks

Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship, Norwegian Epic, set the stage for the most successful NBC telecast of the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular in three years. The ship, which is the largest ever to dock in New York and the first new ship to homeport in Miami in three years, was host to the fireworks event as part of its inaugural festivities in New York, July 2-4, 2010.

Hosted by NBC celebrities Nick Cannon and Alison Sweeney, with musical performances by Justin Bieber, Enrique Iglesias and LeAnn Rimes, the NBC live show for the nation’s largest fireworks display, set aboard Norwegian Epic, was spectacular. The exciting elements propelled the NBC telecast to the #1 program across all networks for the evening, hitting a three year high in ratings. The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular show also won the coveted 18-49 demo and had a significant +82% gain in women, ages 25-54, versus last year.

“We are thrilled to have been the host for such an amazing and record-breaking event,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief executive officer. “Macy’s and NBC were fantastic partners and we could not have had a better platform to launch our newest and largest ship ever, Norwegian Epic. We feel the ship is truly spectacular and will create fireworks of its own in the industry.”
